Our employer partner is a Hamilton-based engineering business looking for a full-time Trades Assistant to help those in the workshop to complete work required in accordance with customer specifications and instructions. This is an entry-level role with a view to an engineering-related apprenticeship being offered, if you have what it takes!

You will:
Be reliable, turn up on time every day.
Be enthusiastic about work, use your initiative and develop good relationships with senior staff, who will mentor you.
Learn to produce excellent work, with attention to accuracy and appearance.
Be able to show an understanding of engineering drawings and concepts.
Display safe working practices while using workshop machinery and by adhering to our health and safety rules and procedures.

Key Tasks
• Operate workshop machinery and equipment under supervision.
• Work alongside tradespeople to gain skills and experience that will extend your engineering knowledge and set a foundation for a further career in engineering.
• Contribute process improvement ideas and collaborate when necessary to co-create solutions.
• Organise semi-finished items ready for the next operation.
• Ensure all parts and materials are stored in an orderly fashion.
• Interpret and work from drawings, or work instructions.
• Maintain and repair workshop machinery and equipment as necessary or instructed.
• Maintain a tidy work area. Return equipment to their correct home when finished.
• Use factory computer, clock on and off jobs accurately.

We are on the hunt for Press and Laser Operators on day and afternoon shifts to work in a supportive and friendly environment.

Stainless Design is a market leader in exceptional laser cutting and precision CNC folding services, in conjunction with offering innovative engineering and fabrication solutions using all grades of mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel to produce high quality components and assemblies.

Your role will include:
Operating press or laser machines
Following drawings and specifications to provide input for design/manufacturing improvements
Identifying and recommending improvements to reduce machining time, while maintaining accuracy
Ensuring machines and immediate work areas are kept to standard
Finding faults and performing operational maintenance on machines
Ensuring product quality standards are upheld
Strong adherence to Health and Safety practices

You will:
Have excellent attention to detail
Be able to work under pressure
Be a team player
Have good communication skills
Take pride in your work

Experience in production press or laser machine environment is useful but not essential for the right person.

Experience with power tools not essential but definitely handy

We are looking for someone with the right attitude and attributes to be able to learn our trade and possibly even complete the qualification to become a qualified Aluminium Joinery Fabricator.
The bulk of your time would be working in our factory but that is not the entire role.
Sometimes you would be a delivery driver. This requires special attributes and care as you would be responsible for getting our finished product out to our customers..... ideally without incident.
You would also be the 'Yard Person' which can involve many varied hands-on tasks (eg. loading vehicles, assisting our installers, site-glazing, general cleaning and machinery maintenance.

The successful applicant will need to convince us they have the following:
- Self motivation
- Ability to listen and take instruction
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to handle/lift our products
- Ability to work with tools and machinery
- Punctuality
- Good personal presentation
- Ability to communicate well using the English language
- Clean Driver License (minimum of Restricted) and confident driving a manual vehicle
- No BS or baggage

Ideally we would like the successful person to start early November but this is negotiable for the right candidate.
