CAL Isuzu – based in Hamilton – is committed to developing talent within the Waikato region, and is looking for keen Years 11 to 13 students to take part in this year’s Gateway Programme. If you have what it takes, this opportunity will pathway into a Heavy Automotive Engineering Apprenticeship (with strand in Road Transport) Level 3 and Level 4 at CAL Isuzu!
What’s involved?
This programme (1 day per week, or more by arrangement) will give you the opportunity to experience first-hand what it’s like to work for a NZ-leading truck dealership. The CAL Isuzu Team will tailor your Gateway experience to fit within your school timetable. At the same time, you will take part in MITO’s training programme, StartUp®, earning micro-credentials in the automotive industry approved by NZQA and credits towards NCEA Levels 2 and/or Level 3!
Supported by MITO in partnership with secondary schools and local businesses, StartUp® has both theory eLearning and practical learning in a workshop – it’s just like a mini-apprenticeship! These credits will be listed on your NZQA Record of Achievement, and some can be cross credited into a Heavy Automotive Engineering Apprenticeship (see over for more details).
About CAL
With the latest model trucks and access to the latest technology, you will experience the industry by shadowing CAL Isuzu Team members in the engineering workshop and other departments across the business; sales, parts, automotive electrical, mechanical workshop, panel and paint.
